MIDIOR Founder Susan Loconto Penta Selected as CWE 2017 Advocate of the Year

Cambridge, MA – October 20, 2017 – Susan Loconto Penta, a founder and Managing Partner of MIDIOR Consulting, was honored today by the Center for Women & Enterprise (CWE), a nationally-known nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women in business, as the 2017 CWE Advocate of the Year at its Annual Women Business Leaders Conference. The CWE Advocate of the Year is awarded to the top professional or community leader whose efforts support women’s economic empowerment through small business initiatives.

According to Susan Loconto Penta, “My work on behalf of the Center for Woman and Enterprise has truly been a labor of love. CWE sits at the intersection of my volunteer passions -- education, entrepreneurship and disadvantaged populations -- and I am proud to have served CWE and the women (and men) we support in so many capacities over the past 18 years and am humbled by this honor.”

Through her leadership, Susan inspired staff, volunteers, donors and more to join together to provide the resources and deliver the programs needed to achieve CWE’s vision to help propel all women to achieve economic power and equity. Most recently, during her 7-year tenure as board chair, CWE grew, expanded and reached new heights in order to improve and expand services to more people in more places including:
  • Opened three new Centers: New Hampshire; Vermont; and the Veterans Business Outreach Center of New England (VBOC)
  • Launched online curriculum and delivery of classes
  • Brought entrepreneurship education to 45 cities and towns in CWE’s service area through Community Classrooms, fostering small business growth by offering trainings and business resources in areas where aspiring and established entrepreneurs need the organization most.
  • Piloted, and subsequently established, a Microloan Program in Rhode Island to provide affordable business loans to low-to-moderate-income entrepreneurs.
According to Susan Rittscher, “Susan Penta not only led the Center for Women & Enterprise Board of Directors, but inspired all to reach for the stars, exceed expectations and serve with passion and commitment.”
