New England Carpenters Benefit Funds Engages MIDIOR Consulting to Manage Systems and Software Implementation for Taft-Hartley Plan Administration
Cambridge, MA –- December 5, 2011 – MIDIOR Consulting has started a new engagement with the New England Carpenters Benefit Funds (NECBF) to manage the next phase of a major software implementation and systems overhaul. MIDIOR was selected for this assignment as a follow-on engagement to an operational review completed for NECBF in 2009 and an overall fund office modernization effort.
As NECBF makes the move from an IBM AS/400 based system to a three-tier computing environment, MIDIOR is supporting all aspects of the deployment to assure that the software selected by NECBF (V3 from Vitech Systems Inc.) meets the needs of the fund administrator and its plan participants. To kick-off the project, MIDIOR engaged the plan administrator in a comprehensive requirements analysis that provided the foundation for the roadmap to upgrade NECBF’s services capabilities.
According to Harry R. Dow, Executive Director of NECBF, “We selected MIDIOR Consulting to provide program oversight and technical expertise because of their knowledge of our operation, sensitivity to the needs of our members and employers and their experience working with information technology programs in the financial services sector. Our migration to V3 will provide both a foundation for future growth and services enhancements for our members and MIDIOR will be an important partner to help us rework our business processes and our data management practices so that our implementation is optimized.”
Susan Loconto Penta, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of MIDIOR noted, “This type of IT “modernization” project enables fund administrators to leverage their investments in technology to better serve the needs of plan participants (in this case the New England Regional Council of Carpenters (NERCC). Our software and systems implementation team is excellent, maintaining an optimal blend of skills and experience that can represent and balance the perspectives of end users, technologists and management.”
With a fifteen-year track record working with clients in financial services, MIDIOR Consulting understands the specific needs of Taft-Hartley fund administrators. By definition, these plans support multiple employers and thousands of participants, often without large in-house technical teams. This creates a unique set of challenges in terms of technology and business processes.
